Coffee & Crafts Thursday

Paper Punches & Spring Chicks

Yesterday in Coffee & Crafts Thursday I showed the fun gang of gals how to make this sweet adorable Easter Card (or it could be just a happy spring card by not stamping "Happy Easter."). A really cute new way of looking at the build a bird punch from Stampin Up...making little baby chicks! I just think they are about the most stinkn' cute spring babies ever! Couldn't make it this morning no worries you can always get the kit shipped right to your door step. For more information on that here.

Pop! Pop! PoP!

We eat a ton of popcorn in our house. We usually prefer using the hot air popper. Microwave popcorn is laden with all sorts of unhealthy ingredients and I just can’t stand the smell! I found this idea on Pinterest. It’s one of those simple ideas that works beautifully. It’s also great when you want a single serving of popcorn. The recipe below is for a decent single serving. I use a sandwich sized brown bag, but if you’re looking for a nice bowl of popcorn to share, then just double the recipe and use it with a larger brown paper bag.

Paper-bag Microwave Popcorn
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
  • paper lunch bag
Place 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels into lunch sized paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over twice. Place in microwave, standing up, and cook for 3 minutes. Stop the microwave once the popping slows to one to two kernels a second.

enjoy some healthy popcorn

I like green eggs and...

How stinkn' cute is this little basket of pretty eggs! This adorable mini card came together fairly fast.  Spring seems to be coming into full bloom faster then ever this year. Here in New England we just enjoyed a little bit of summer all this week sunny and very warm temps(in med 80's), it's just been crazy. Yesterday my 7 year old daughter, Trin came home from school and put on her bathing suit! A bathing suit on March 22! Crazy stuff going on around here! I am convinced that winter and spring eloped this year and never came back from their honeymoon.

Happy making pretty thing!

Tool Tip

The brayer is a hand roller that was originally used in the offset printing process. Luckily for us, we can easily use it to apply ink to a large rubber stamp or create a custom background for our projects. It is very easy to use, and clean up is a snap!
1. Spread ink onto a stamp case or glass, either by rolling directly from the ink pad or by using a few drops of re-inker.
2. Roll the brayer through the ink, going in different directions, until the roller is coated evenly with ink.
3. Roll brayer across stamp, being sure to cover image completely.
4. Stamp your image.
5. Run brayer through running water to clean. Let air dry.
Note: some darker inks may stain the brayer's roller, which can be unsightly, but doesn't affect its use.

There are so many cool things you can do with this tool. I will have more on some fun ways to use the brayer coming up next week along with project pictures, so stay tune.
