Foster Failures

This is the weekend we think is Skyy birthday.  If you don't know who Skyy is then let me tell you a little bit about her.  Sometime in late September of last year my girlfriend Sue sent a picture of a very cute very small Great Pyr mix puppy that had less then a day to live in a Kentucky gas shelter along with her mom. Well it was love at first sight, I was going to save and foster that pup and her mom no matter what hoops I had to go through to get them both to safety. Long story short, on December 12 after traveling 2 days up north by the Rescue Riders at midnight Sue arrived at my backdoor with the cutest, sweetest and most loving puppy ever. Skyy grow on all of us and Stolii our other dog seemed to really like the new addition,  we ended up foster failures.  It has been very crazy around here with a puppy and an older dog at the same time. There has been many pairs of shoes eaten, kids toys distorted, furniture chewed, break outs from the fenced in yard at all times of the day and night, tons of puking in the car, big holes dug in the front yard and way more dog hair then one can keep up with, but most of all Skyy is the most loving , sweet dog on the planet. She thinks everyone was put on this earth just for her to play with and love.

In The Clouds...

Trini's first project for kindergarten...The class was asked to write on a cut out of a cloud what they wish for for this year. The teacher went around the room asking each kid what they wished for, the kids clouds were going like this "To go to Disney", "To make lots of new friends", "To learn how to read." and then there was Trini..."I want to fly!"...yup that's my kid she totally beats to her own drum.

The School Bus.

So on Wed. Sept. 1, 2010 my one and only child put on her backpack and together we walked out the door to the bus stop to wait for the school bus, along with Skyy, Stolii  and Daddy. Trini was getting very excited about riding the school bus for the very first time in her whole entire life(her words) . The very best part about this first day of school was that she got to pick one parent to ride along and spend the day with her in kindergarten...How happy was I when she picked me :), I was going back to kindergarten.  Finally we heard the roar of the bus coming up the hill and then saw the big yellow school bus heading towards us. Trini was jumping and screaming " It's coming!!!It's coming!!! It's here!!! I see my school bus!!!"  The flashing lights went on, the bus came to a stop and then the big doors opened with a great big friendly  "Hello Triniti. How are you today? I am Sue and I will be your bus driver for the year." Together both of us  jumped up the steps and onto the big yellow bus,  we were the very first stop, we could pick any seat we wanted. Trin chose one close to the front and behind the driver. Trini was just so shocked that her bus driver knew her name. She answered Sue after we sat down with "I'm great! This so doesn't look like my Daddy's big band tour bus?"  Sue the bus driver laughed and said "Nope not today but I will work on making it look more like that for you for tomorrow." Trini said "WOW!!! Really your gonna put a big flat screen t.v in here? Cool!"

Doodling

I have a thing for papers, all kinds of papers. Along with journals, but I have found that they're a little too big to haul around everywhere I go on a daily basis. That's why I came up with this funky little on-the-go journal necklace. Perfect size for doodling. Finding a use for all of the little scraps of pretty papers that seem to be everywhere in my studio has never been so cool!!!

This journal was created using an old book cover.  It has 40 pages(80 front and back)of random hand cut (by me) recycled and vintage papers. Recycling has never been so pretty.

You can find these wonderful mini journals in my Pressing Dandelions Shop...

Gretchen

Gretchen likes to read American stories about cowgirls and heros of the Wild West. Her favorite color is periwinkle. Please keep this in mind when you color her clothing. She likes to walk her little dog Gilley down to the corner bakery on Saturday morning for a banana cupcake.

Meet Ruby Bloom

Meet Ruby Bloom Samson. Ruby lives in brownstone in New York. She attends St. Mary's school for girls where she is learning Latin and pre-algebra. On Wednesdays, her mother takes her to ice skating lessons. After the lesson, she and her mother like to stop at their favorite Pizza place for a slice of pepperoni. They eat their pizza in Central Park and watch the swallows peck at the crumbs on the ground.

For her eighth birthday, Ruby's Uncle Walter bought her a dove. Ruby named her Sunday.  Sunday likes to chirp and chatter, especially when Ruby comes home from school.  Ruby's father likes to say that Sunday got her name because she talks all week long and twice as much on Sundays.
